I joined Team in Training because I know what it like to lose a loved one to cancer and I know what it is like to endure cancer treatments and survive the side effects. Chemotherapy destroyed my heart. I am also a heart transplant recipient. I will cycle to help the cause to prevent anyone from enduring cancer treatment, and I will also cycle in honor of my father who once told me that I could do anything I put my mind to. And so I will.

I lost my father to cancer back in 1985, he was diagnosed with a rare type of lymphoma called "meningal lymphoma. Ten years later I was diagnosed with Non-Hogkin's lymphoma and the chemotherapy destroyed my heart. Just 11 months later I was told I had congestive heart failure and I needed a heart transplant. But there was a problem, I was told by my doctors that since I had not been in remission long enough, I could not even be listed for a transplant. That was back in 1995. I received my heart from a 18 year old donor in 1999 and I have to say that I know firsthand that it is not a cliche when people say: "life is really short". We must all do our part to live each moment to the fullest and help others do the same.

Please support the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and Team in Training. Lets all do our part to prevent others from suffering
